A liquid, or fluid, is something that has no shape of its own. It flows around and takes the shape of whatever container it is put into. Water is the liquid most of us are familiar with. When something solid like butter melts, it turns into a liquid.

Lis forLiquorice

Liquorice, or licorice, is the root of a plant native to southern Europe. In some countries, the root is chewed raw, and in other countries the liquorice flavour is used with sugar to make liquorice candies. Liquorice has a similar flavour to fennel and anise but is not related to either one of them. Some modern liquorice candies have more anise in them than liquorice.

A list is a group of things written down in a way that makes sense. Lists of things tend to be related, and often have a particular order. A to-do list is a list of all the things you have to do. A shopping list is a list of things you need to buy. A member list is a list of all the people who are members of a club.

Lit is the past tense of light. It might be used to describe how good the light in a room is, for example "the room was brightly lit", or it might describe something that was set alight, "she lit the candle".
