Latex is the milky sap of many different plants. One tree in particular, the Para rubber tree, is used for commercially producing rubber.
Rubber is used in a huge variety of ways. It is used to make rubber bands, erasers, elastic that you find in the waistband of clothes, drive belts inside a car engine, gumboots and the biggest use is tyres.

A lattice is made from strips of a material like wood crossing over itself, leaving gaps between the strips. The gaps are usually square or diamond shaped, but more intricate lattices have more interesting shapes. Lattices can be made from wood, plastic, metal or may even be made out of pastry strips on top of a pie.

A lava lamp contains wax, water and a light which acts as heating element. As the lamp gets warm, the wax melts and starts to rise. As it rises it forms interesting shapes, which makes lava lamps fun to watch. Lava lamps come in all sorts of different colors, and the wax and water in them also come in different colors.
